Life at FUUF

Congregational Life

Within FUUF, we have several regular small groups such as: Sparks, Circles of Trust, and Mindful Crafting!
To get involved or find out more, contact office@fuuf.org or join our

Sparks

No matter how creativity comes to life for you, “being creative” can be your superpower– an opening to human connection, a powerful healing energy, a way to bring your senses and spirit alive!

We are aided by rich Prompts, which detail varied approaches from which participants choose one to pursue. We then get together once a month, usually online, and share our work and thought processes. All of us (aka Sparklers) feel the conversation about the work is as spiritually enhancing as creating the work itself.

If you would like to participate, please contact Marilyn Finley or Ingrid Jackoway and they will send you the current month’s Prompts.

One last word...

You don’t need to be a Picasso to participate. The main thing is to let your creativity intersect with the monthly themes and discover connections you may not have even sensed before.

Please join us!

Circles of Trust

Circles of Trust are based on the work of Parker Palmer, a Quaker teacher who describes the common disconnect between one’s inner being (he labels as the Soul) and the roles we play or occupy in our daily lives. This disconnect occurs due to early experiences where the ‘Soul’ puts up barriers to protect itself from small or large insults in the world. Parker Palmer also believes that given a safe space in a community (which he calls a Circle of Trust) sometimes we can bring out that genuine part of ourselves.

Circles of Trust are small groups (6-8 people) that covenant to meet for 1.5-2 hours monthly from September to May. Circles are caring, but not caretaking; supportive, but not a support group; friendly, but not necessarily friendship; a place for learning, but not a discussion group.

We currently have one Circles of Trust group underway, which cannot accept new members. If there is interest in beginning another group, please contact our minister, Lóre Stevens.

Mindful Crafting

We have a wealth of creativity in this congregation! Mindful Crafting events occur monthly. You can either participate in the craft provided by the host, or bring your own favorite hobby craft. Enjoy fellowship and snacks with other crafty folks!

If you are interested in participating in Mindful Crafting, please see our newsletter under "Get in Touch" or events page under "What We Do". If you have a craft suggestion or would like to host a Mindful Craft event, please contact Jennifer Spirko, who runs the group.

Worship Team

Works with the minister and music director to craft meaningful worship services that reflect our values but also our flexibility and diversity; coordinates readers, performers, videos, and even altar flowers: all the details that make FUUF worship special.

This Loving Congregation (TLC) Team

Connects our fellowship members with acts of caring and solidarity such as preparing and delivering a meal, offering a ride, running an errand, and sending a card during a time of hardship.

If you would like to volunteer to provide a meal to a member in need, run an errand, make a phone call to someone in the fellowship, send cards, etc. you can sign up here.

Service & Example

Rainbow Team

Supports FUUF's designation as a "Welcoming Congregation," safe for LGBTQIA+ folks, and explores ways for us to live our mission of loving the hate out of the world.

Immigration & Accompaniment Team

Keeps our fellowship informed and engaged in issues of justice related to immigration. A big part of our focus for the last 4 years has been a relationship between our Accompaniment Team and a local immigrant family - a mother and four young children - whose daily lives are greatly impacted by immigration laws and policies.
