Worship: "The Stones Will Cry Out" – Jon Coffee

Cape Town, South Africa, a city with over 3 million people is less than three months away from running out of water. With no solution in sight, it is predicted to be the first major world city to run completely out of water. In the Christian gospel of Luke, in the days leading up to his death, Jesus says of his disciples, “I tell you, if these were silent, the stones would shout out.” In 2018 the parallel may be, if we do not heed the current climate crisis, the very earth will cry out in the name of justice. How do we 'keep the faith' in the face of the global climate crisis?

Jon Coffee has visited FUUF many times. This congregation has held a special place for him as he has journeyed through down the path to ministry. He is a former intern and chaplain at TVUUC in Knoxville and now works remotely for Meadville Lombard Theological School. He lives in Knoxville with his husband, Keith. In their spare time, they enjoy video games and movies. They live with a big fluffy cat named, Cookie, who doesn't have much interest in video games, or theology.
