Cindy Bryerose - An Introduction to Imbolc - Since the latter 20th century, Pagans and Wiccans have observed Imbolc as a religious holiday. Historically, it was a traditional Gaelic festival marking the beginning of spring, the "crone" (Winter) starting to go away as the "maiden" (Spring) begins to return. Most commonly it is held about halfway between the winter solstice and the spring equinox, around February 1st or 2nd. For Christians, especially in Ireland, it is the feast day of Saint Brigid who is thought to be a Christianization of the goddess Brigid.
There will be live Celtic music before and during the service by our own George Kraushaar and Dianne Gruber.
